Chinese-CRCCI shows interest for investment, cooperation in infrastructure in Punjab


Pak economy strengthened due to Chinese investment: CM

A delegation of China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCCI) led by its Chairman Zhou Lei called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Wednesday and showed keen interest in investment and enhancement of cooperation in infrastructure and other sectors in Punjab.
The Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif told the delegation that Pak-China friendship has become a unique example for other nations adding that strong economic cooperation exists between the two countries. He said that Pak-China relations are touching new heights due to the CPEC as new avenues of foreign investment have been opened in Pakistan.
He said that CPEC is such a precious gift of the Chinese government and the President Xi Jinping for the people of Pakistan and it has further strengthened the bilateral friendship. Pakistani people can never forget this unique economic cooperation of China. He said that work has been carried out with an unusual speed on energy, infrastructure and transport projects in Punjab and in other parts of Pakistan under the CPEC.
Due to the completion of energy-related projects, thousands of megawatt electricity has been included in the national grid, he said, adding: “1320MW Sahiwal Coal Power Project has broken the world record of speedy completion.”
He said that economy has been strengthened due to Chinese investment to the tune of billions of rupees under CPEC and increase in economic and trade activities has created new employment opportunities in abundance. He said that conducive atmosphere is available for investment in the Punjab and Chinese company is welcomed in Punjab. The Chinese company may invest in Punjab with an open heart and it will be provided every sort of facility.
The Chinese delegation was led by Zhuo Lei, Chairman and President of China Railway Construction Corporation International. Chairman P&D, Secretaries of C&W and Housing Departments, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority and others were also present on the occasion.
