Pakistan, US sign accord to explore trade opportunities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has signed a sister city agreement for its industrial metropolis Sialkot with southwest suburb of Chicago to explore trade and industry opportunities, a statement said on Tuesday.

“Signing of Sister City Agreement between Sialkot and Bolingbrook will create an array of new opportunities in the field of business and would greatly improve contacts between these cities,” Ambassador of Pakistan to US Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said during his first visit to Chicago after assuming his office in Washington.
“This agreement would be a landmark development in the seven decades long Pak-US relations.”  Chaudhry signed Sialkot-Bolingbrook sister city agreement with the Mayor of Bolingbrook on behalf of the Municipal Corporation of Sialkot.
The envoy, in a meeting with Congressman Peter Roskam, briefed him about fast economic development of the country.  Earlier, Ambassador Chaudhry, during a meeting with a business forum in Washington, also invited the US multinational firms to explore the countless investment opportunities in Pakistan by taking advantage of favourable investment climate.
“The improved security situation is having a dynamic effect on our economy and Pakistan is attracting foreign investment from all over the world,” he said in a statement. Ambassador Chaudhry underscored the need for bringing the US travel advisory in consonance with the positive reality of today’s Pakistan. The forum’s members said they are looking forward to benefitting from new investment opportunities in Pakistan.
