CPEC added new dimension to Pak-China ties: scholar

Secretary Energy and Power, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Naeem Khan has said that out of the total announced 356 mini-micro hydel projects in backward areas of the province, 180 have been completed while work on the remaining was in full swing and to be completed by the end of the current calendar year.

He stated this while addressing a high-level meeting, which was attended by Chief Executive, Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), Akbar Ayub Khan, Project Directors and Project Managers. The meeting was further told that work on 36.3MW Daral Khawar Hydel Project, Swat is in last phase of completion and work on the transmission will be completed shortly.
 
The meeting while reviewing the pace of work on 10.2MW Jabori Hydropower Project, 11.8MW Karora Hydropower Project, 40.8MW Koto Hydropower Project, 69MW Lawi Hydropower Project and 84MW Mataltan Hydropower expressed concern over delay and slow pace of work on projects' tunnels of some projects. For the redressal of any complaint regarding delay in these projects, the Secretary Energy and Power issued standing directives to the project directors concerned and stated that any complaint or issue in this regard should be brought in the notice of the higher authorities of the department, so the completion of these projects will be ensured within the stipulated time period.
 
On this occasion, both Secretary, Energy & Power, KP Mohammad Naeem Khan and CEO PEDO, Akbar Ayub Khan issued stern orders to all project directors and project managers to ensure the presence of all field officers on the projects' site compulsory and in case of any delay and negligence, the concerned project directors will be held responsible.
 
During the meeting, the Secretary Energy and Power directed all officers for evolving timeline for the timely completion of energy projects and bringing further simplification in the land acquisition and payments for the energy related projects.
