Nawaz orders steps to attract investment

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday told administrative heads of divisions, attached departments and autonomous bodies to facilitate domestic and foreign investment; and the setting up of and running businesses in Pakistan.
Chairing a meeting, he said that all federal ministries, their attached departments and autonomous organisations should prepare a comprehensive code of procedure to be followed by applicants/investors for licence, sanction or permission for investment or setting up of business in Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif said that all such processes and transactions should be identified to streamline certifications, approvals, licenses, permits or similar instruments.
He said foreign entrepreneurs were now showing keen interest in investing in Pakistan, which is manifestation of his government's successful economic policies. Nawaz congratulated Water and Power Ministry for including $1.5 billion Lahore-Matiari transmission Line project in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. Talking to Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed him to ensure that domestic gas consumers were given "maximum relief".
