ISLAMABAD APRIL 06, 2015, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) have jointly organized an investment forum with the help of Suzhou Municipal Government on April 2, 2015 in Suzhou China to market the Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Both the banks are working on the initiative to develop Special Economic Zones (SEZs) especially at Gwadar (Balochistan) and Punjab.

Secretary BOI, Syed Iftikhar Babar and Director General, BOI, Dr. Raania Ahsan attended the forum on the invitation of ICBC and Habib Bank, which was attended by more than 100 Chinese prominent Investors / businessmen.

 

Secretary BOI, gave a detailed presentation focusing on investment climate and opportunities available in Pakistan. He highlighted strengths and promising economic outlook of Pakistan and added that China Pakistan Economic Corridor will be a game changer in the region. He invited Chinese investors to invest not only in the SEZs being established by ICBC and HBL but also in the other avenues available in Pakistan. He also apprised that the Government of Pakistan has taken a number of initiatives to attract foreign investment for exploration of new energy resources and to make the existing power system efficient. Secretary BOI, while conveying the strategic location of Pakistan has emphasized the Chinese investors to invest in free zone in Gwadar as well as in the Special Economic Zones to be established alongside China Pakistan Economic Corridor and avail the opportunity of getting access in the Middle East, Central Asia and African countries.
